ABOUT WORLD FOOD DAY.

October 16 th is World Food Day. This day has been celebrated for over 40 years. It was createdby the United Nations in 1979 as an opportunity to recognize our global food systems and raise awareness about hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.

Collective action across 150 countries worldwide is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, municipalities, businesses, CSOs, the media, the public, and youth. They promote worldwide awareness of hunger and promote action for the future of food, people, and the planet.
