World food day 2026

World Food Day is observed internationally each year on October 16th, marking the anniversary
of the establishment of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. This day
is recognized by numerous organizations dedicated to addressing hunger and food security,
including the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization, and the International
Fund for Agricultural Development. Notably, in 2020, the World Food Programme was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts in combating hunger, fostering peace in conflict zones, and
leading initiatives to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon in war and conflict situations.
Food for every man, woman, child is our mission.
Since its founding, the End World Hunger Foundation has been active around the globe,
contributing to sustainable solutions that address hunger and malnutrition. Our impact includes:
• Rwanda (Africa): Fighting child malnutrition alongside Gardens for Health
International.
• Cusco, Peru (South America): Supporting Chicuchas Wasi School for Indigenous Girls
in ensuring children receive proper nutrition.
• East Timor (Asia): In partnership with Church World Services, we co-funded a project to
enhance food security and improve water access for farming activities in the District of
Liquica, Timor Leste, which experiences ongoing challenges related to food availability,
poverty, and child malnutrition.
• Guatemala (Central America) and Kenya (Africa): Funding and constructing sand
dams to provide reliable access to water for farming.
• Sonoma, California: Supporting local nonprofits feeding hungry neighbors and
maintaining community food gardens.
